How we count new businesses
Updated October 31, 2026
Our pages on new startups and new companies come from one process. This page explains it, so you can judge the numbers and quote them correctly.
What counts as a new business
A business counts as new when its website was first seen 30 to 120 days before the page date. We use 30 days as the floor so that the site has had time to become a real business page, not a placeholder. We use 120 days as the ceiling so the lists stay new.
Each day we look at the new websites that appear on the public internet, visit each one, and read the home page. An AI model then decides whether the site shows a real business, what it sells and to whom, and where it is.
What we leave out
- Sites that are parked, for sale, empty or a template.
- Personal sites: portfolios, résumés and personal blogs.
- Sensitive categories: health care and therapy, religion, politics, adult content, cannabis, firearms, children's services, shelters and legal services for individuals.
- Businesses outside the US (for now).
- Businesses that asked to be removed, and sites that ask not to be contacted for sales.
- Older businesses that we found in archives. Their age is not known, so they are never called new.
How a business gets a type and a place
Startups get one of 29 types (AI, SaaS, fintech, and so on). Companies get one of 20 industries (construction, staffing, real estate, and so on). A business can be both. The place is the city and state that the website shows. Many new websites show no address; those count on national and state pages only. Cities where companies register but do not work, such as Sheridan, Wyoming, are not used as places.
What each page shows
- The total count for the page, and counts by type, customer and place.
- Seven example businesses: the name, a link to the website, the city and one line that we write. The seven are picked at random once a month.
- Never emails, phone numbers, street addresses, social profiles, the names of people, or text copied from the site.
A page needs at least 10 businesses. Counts change every week; the seven examples change every month. Each business that we show is checked to be live on the day we publish.
Limits
- We see new websites, not new legal entities. A new site can belong to an older company with a new brand.
- Types are set by an AI model and can be wrong. Tell us and we fix it.
- Location is missing for many new sites, so city counts are lower than the real number.
Reuse and corrections
You may reuse the counts with credit to FreshLeads.cc and a link to the page (CC BY 4.0). Is your business listed? You can remove it, or email operator@zoom-gtm.com to claim or correct it. A removal takes it off every page.
